Work

Work Experience

2015
Nestle (March 2015):
!nGenius Designer

During my time at school I had the opportunity to do a week's work placement at Nestle. In March of 2015, I worked for the IT department under a team named !nGenius, a group who were dedicated to producing innovative solutions to the current work place problems at Nestle. It was an eye opening experience and my time there let me understand the processes that went behind brainstorming, developing and pushing out a project. I was able to produce a pitch of a product based on market research and ideas that I had at the time for a healthy eating app that produced recipes and suggested restaurants for healthy selection of food. This was the cemented the fact that I wanted to move into technical field.

Haut-Lac (July 2015):
Maintenance Assistant

In the summer of 2015, I worked for 4 weeks under the maintenance team at my school, Haut-Lac. My time there taught me the how to endure manual labour and the organization that goes into the situation. This was my first paid work, and to secure the job required searching for any opportunity available at the school that summer as I was not accepted to do work anywhere else. As a result my tenacity and determination allowed me to secure 4 weeks work. This was a real experience as it involved me setting up payment, recording my hours and a constant commitment to the job.

2016
2017
Nespresso (June - September 2017):
PLM Assistant for Manuela Bendo

In the summer of 2015, I applied to a summer jobs program for children of Neslté Employees. The program allows for short 4-8 weeks worth of placement at a position in Nestlé (or its associated companies). I was rejected in 2015 and 2016. In 2017 I was accepted and started my first summer placement for 6 weeks in Nespresso HQ, Lausanne, Switzerland. I was working in the team of Contract Manufacturing, a department dedicated to monitoring and managing the production and development of all Nespresso machines. In particular, I was selected due to my interest in technology and development, and my previous experience in !nGenius. As it turns out, the department were developing a new solution to track all their documentation for machines. This meant that my previous experience was helpful to them, not to mention my fresh eyes and free time to play with the system.

During my first 6 weeks there, I was able to upload around 800 files to their test environment and shape the way the system was to be designed. I had an input in meetings about the solution, explained the way I would do it, and the over-complicated method they had at the time I arrived. After my work, my bosses, Manuela Bendo and Yannick Nann, were impressed enough with my work that they left me with their contact details and asked for me to contact them when I was back in Switzerland and looking for work.

2018
Nespresso (June - September 2018):
PLM Assistant for Manuela Bendo

As a result, I returned in my summer of 2018, working for 8 weeks. The mission of this placement was to migrate data from pre-production / the old method of storing their documentation to the production environment, where the additions and suggestions I had made for the solution was now in effect, and being that I gave a lot of these suggestions, was well versed in the system. As a result, the majority of the data in the system has been uploaded and maintained by myself.

2019
Nespresso (June - September 2019):
PLM Assistant for Manuela Bendo

I have now returned once again in the summer of 2019, where now I am working on a new part of the system that means manual creation of documents is no longer required and instead the document can be produced online. This is still under progress.
